Welcome to WAMUNC XVIII!

Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 18th Annual Washington Area Model United Nations Conference, hosted by The George Washington University’s International Affairs Society. WAMUNC XVIII will be held from Thursday March 31st to Sunday April 3rd, 2016 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia. The Secretariat is thrilled to welcome you to the D.C. area this spring.

At WAMUNC, you will find an expertly crafted combination of high-quality debate and delegate experience and second-to-none access to the capital’s finest institutions, landmarks, and organizations. At WAMUNC, we combine top-notch committee experiences with hands-on, practical learning from experts and decision-makers in international politics.

WAMUNC prides itself on its committees. We combine a comprehensive list of traditional and innovative committees alike; everything from General Assembly committees like DISEC and Legal to creative committees like GM Board of Directors, 2009 and The New York Times Editorial Board. With 23 committees, we have something for every delegate.

With knowledgeable and professional committee Chairs and Crisis Directors and highly detailed background materials, we give the delegates the tools they need to have a game-changing weekend here at WAMUNC. With active and enthusiastic participation, each delegate can take ownership of his or her country representative or character, learn a great deal, and apply that knowledge using real-world skills in the committee room.

My experiences with Model United Nations have made me a better learner, public speaker, communicator, team member, and global citizen. Model UN does not directly change the world, but it helps prepare the future leaders of our country, society, and world. At WAMUNC, we strive to unearth the confidence, creativity, and passion of each delegate, helping them realize their true leadership potential.

I hope you will apply for WAMUNC. Pay close attention to our registration deadlines and financial policy to put your delegates in the best position. We have a committed team here, eager to help with any questions or concerns so do not be afraid to reach out.

This will be a truly unforgettable experience and I hope you can join us this spring. I wish you the best of luck with your preparations and I cannot wait to welcome you to WAMUNC in March.

Best regards,

Scott Gregory Nover
