Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the 17th Annual Washington Area Model United Nations Conference hosted by The George Washington University and held from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22, 2015. The Secretariat and the rest of the WAMUNC staff cannot wait to welcome you to Washington, D.C. this spring!
This year, we are excited to host you all at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, seconds away from the Woodley Park Metro stop and steps away from embassies. Friday morning, join our staff as we take you to truly experience Washington, D.C. at embassies, museums, monument tours, GW campus tours, and even government and think tank visits. WAMUNC is committed to hands-on and practical learning, which is why we offer these excursions and invite speakers to each committee on Friday afternoon.
From traditional General Assembly committees like the Disarmament and International Security Committee, to historical committees like Mao’s Cultural Revolution Group and Joint Democratic and Republican National Committees, WAMUNC prides itself on consistently delivering innovative and diverse committee choices that appeal to a wide range of interests and delegates. Our twenty-two committees, staffed by over a hundred of the most creative, passionate, and dedicated GW students, will not disappoint.
However, the only way to ensure this conference’s success is through your attendance and active participation. As you take on the role of your country’s representative or character, we hope you add to the debate, meet new friends from around the globe, and gain real world skills. This will be my eighth year involved in Model United Nations, and I can personally attest to the skills I have developed from competing, staffing, and organizing Model United Nations conferences.
Finally, we encourage you to apply to WAMUNC. Pay attention to our early, regular, and late registration deadlines in order to ensure prime placement. We hope you can join us for what we are sure will be an unforgettable weekend and educational experience for delegates. I wish you all the best of luck in your preparations and cannot wait to meet you in March!
